Chris Brown faces another charge of assault, together with his bodyguard, after getting involved in a squabble last weekend. Lucky for him, the court reduced the charge to a misdemeanor on Monday, officials said.
The Local Washington Law Enforcement Department reported that Brown and his bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, went into a fight outside a Washington hotel in the morning of last Sunday for which they were charged with felony assault.
In 2009, the 24-year-old singer faced a similar charge of assault. He is still on probation for the past offense. The controversy got famous because the complainant was Rihanna, his former girlfriend. During their relationship, Brown brutally beat her in a physical fight. He was arrested on February of that year.
In a decision on Monday for the Washington scuffle, the judge reduced the charge to a misdemeanor assault. The decision was issued after more than a day and a half that Brown remained in the custody of the authorities. In addition to his current probation for the 2009 case, Brown was asked to report to the California officer in charge of his probation within 48 hours.
Just this year, Californian authorities have filed probation violation charges against the singer. Another 1,000 hours of community service work was added to his sentence for hitting a Barbadian pop music star.
Brown pleaded guilty in the most recent charge. He was required to undergo a five-year probation and was asked to perform a community service. He was also compelled to join a domestic violence counseling.
